Delicacies From King Crab Legs
To all the fancy seafood lovers, their fave dish is the king crab or as is also known, the stone crab. Behind the stone, hard shell is the tender, juicy meat just locked. Such a thought can make the mouths of some people watery. There are more than 40 different species of stone crabs consumed as food. These species include the gold ones, blue ones and the red ones.
Stone crabs’ meat is used to make soups, salads, stews, and appetizers. King crab legs are a popular dish all around. Steaming, grilling, and baking are some of the ways that this dish can be prepared. The overwhelming tastes you get from these delicacies are similar whether you choose to prepare them yourself or get from your local restaurant.
Before you get to eat your dish, the crabs must be extracted from the sea. It might seem like an easy task but crabbing can prove to be daunting so better leave it to those who understand how to. To prevent the crabs from escaping or causing you harm, their claws must be bound once they are caught. The next thing is to put them in a tank full of water. If you put the crabs in fresh water they will not survive. The crabs can only survive in the water they came from.
Remember that you cannot eat a crab once it has died. Once the crab has died and you choose to consume it, you will become very sick. This is because crabs start decomposing the second they die. Cooking the crabs while they are still alive is the only way to do it.
King crabs can be easily cooked. It is not a must you get them directly from the water; you can just stroll to the grocery near you and get one. The king crab legs from the grocery stores are pre-cooked for ease of storage, thus do not overcook them. If you overcook them it will be difficult to eat them since they become rubber chewy.
These crab legs can be steamed completely by dipping them in a covered pot full of boiling water when cooking them. Before serving them hot, garnish with lemon and butter after you have steamed them for 6 minutes. Alternatively, bake them for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F. But before you bake them, thaw them in hot water.
Grilling the king crab legs over a moderate heat for not less than 4 minutes is another way of preparing them. Olive oil can be used to enhance the taste of your king crab legs. When dealing with meat, make sure in your selection you choose the best and most fresh of what is available, especially seafood.
